Inter-Regional Primary School & Intermediate Cross Country results

On a beautiful summers day 320 students turned up at Harcourt Park ready to run their socks off in the Inter-regional Primary School and Intermediate Cross Country 2008.  This national event was organised by Primary Sport Wellington in conjunction with Activation and took place on 25th September from 10:30am – 3:30pm.

Along with the students, approximately 1000 spectators converged on the park to support their teams in this prestigious event.  The Phil Costley Shield was up for grabs, Canterbury having won in 2005 and 2006 before Wellington wrestling it off them last year.  The shield is awarded to the overall best team.  This year was the first time that this shield was jointly won by Canterbury and Wellington, both teams clocking up 20 points.

Regions present included Wellington, Canterbury, Wairapa Bush, Wanganui and Tasman as well as several independent students competing.  The tough course was similar to regional and local events held earlier in 2008 and offered a combination of rises, downhill’s, mud, water and tree obstacles for competitors to contend with.

UVPSSA
(Upper Valley Primary Schools Sports Association)

The UVPSS Association consists of 13 schools, and Activation.  There are 9-10 events run per year for the schools to enter teams.  It was set up to give children inter school competition from years 4 to 6.  In some events there is a participatory pool and a competitive pool.  Generally the events are a competitive pathway for children to excel.  Activation supports the zone by giving event advice and support, administration and communication assistance and event support on the day.

Introduction Duathlon Results

Congratulations to all of you who took part in the Inaugral Activation Duathlon series.  It was great to see so many of you getting out and having a go - keep up the good work!  In the mean time here are the results from the two races so that you can bask in your glory!
